The Puma Trail at Mombacho Volcano is a challenging 4.5-kilometer (2.8-mile) hike that takes approximately four hours to complete. This trail leads adventurers through the volcano's lush cloud forest, offering the opportunity to observe diverse flora and fauna, including exotic orchids, endemic birds, and, with luck, the elusive puma. The path traverses ancient lava flows and craters, providing insight into the geological forces that shaped the region. Due to its difficulty, the Puma Trail requires a guide and is recommended for experienced hikers seeking an immersive nature experience.
