Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City is a historic 34,253-seat multi-purpose stadium that opened on October 6, 1946, originally named Estadio Olímpico de la Ciudad de los Deportes with an inaugural American football game between UNAM Pumas and the Military College Eagles. Within months, association football became the primary sport at the venue, with Club América serving as the initial tenant until 1955.
The stadium has undergone several name changes throughout its history, being previously known as Estadio Azulgrana and Estadio Azul. Located in the Ciudad de los Deportes complex alongside the world's largest bullring, Plaza México, the stadium features the unique characteristic of being built as a pit with the playing field below street level. Throughout its nearly eight-decade history, it has served as home to multiple football clubs including Cruz Azul (until their departure in 2018 and recent return in the 2023-24 season) and currently hosts Club América.
