Palacio Nacional de Mafra
Arrive at the majestic Mafra National Palace, one of Portugal’s most remarkable monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019. Built in the 18th century, this vast complex combines a royal palace, a basilica and a Franciscan convent that once housed 300 friars.
During your one-hour stop, admire the grandeur of the royal apartments located in two towers once reserved for the king and queen, connected by a 232-metre gallery — the longest palatial corridor in Europe.
Inside, discover impressive spaces and the palace’s spectacular library, often considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The basilica is also home to six historic organs and two monumental carillons with 98 bells.
With more than 1,200 rooms and covering nearly four hectares, the palace reflects the immense wealth of the Portuguese crown during the golden age of Brazilian gold.

Ericeira
A traditional fishing village, Ericeira has developed enormously during the 20th century due to the growing interest in it as a summer resort. It has, however, maintained its original characteristics and its own individual atmosphere. Fifty kilometres from Lisbon, in an easily accessible area, its beaches are very crowded during the summer, and are considered among the best in Europe for surfing. Ribeira d`Ilhas Beach, where one of the World Surfing Championship contests is held every year, is worth a special mention. A visit to Ericeira is also an excellent opportunity to try the shellfish and fresh fish dishes, the speciality of the regional cuisine.
