Stradun
This 1.5-hour guided walking tour takes you deep into the city’s 1,400-year history, recalling ancient tales when Dubrovnik was one of the world’s most prosperous port cites. It tells tales of war and lets the tour-goer in on the culture of the city.
After meeting in Pile area, begin the journey through history and through Old Town. Pass the Franciscan Monastery and admire Orlando’s Column, a monument on the Stradun inspired by the city’s long-standing freedom and sovereignty. See, too, Onofrio’s Fountain, built in 1438 at the end of a 8-mile (12-km) aqueduct that gave the city its water supply.
The walk also passes by the Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace and the Cathedral of the Assumption, a baroque church built after the devastating earthquake of 1667.
