A1 Hill, also known as C1 Hill, is one of the most significant historical sites in Dien Bien Phu, where many fierce battles took place during the struggle against French colonialism. Positioned strategically, A1 Hill became a stronghold for the Viet Minh army throughout the conflict. In May 1954, after several days of intense fighting, the Viet Minh forces secured control of A1 Hill, marking a crucial turning point in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Today, A1 Hill is not only an attractive tourist destination but also a memorial site for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the nation.
