Itinerary
05:00–05:30 AM: Hotel pickup in Chiang Rai city. Travel 1.5 hours to the Chiang Khong border. Brief stop at 7-Eleven for snacks and drinks before crossing.
07:00 AM: Arrive at the Thai border. Prepare travel documents and proceed through customs.
07:30 AM: Board the shuttle bus across the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge No. 4 (approx. 20 minutes).
08:00 AM: Arrive at the Lao border to process visa-on-arrival.
09:00 AM: After completing immigration, transfer by local bus to Huay Xai Bus Station.
10:00 AM: Depart by van from Huay Xai to Na Toei Train Station (5-hour journey on a scenic, bumpy road). Stop for lunch and restrooms along the way (approx. 1 hour).
