Alicante

Antiguo Faro del Puerto de Alicante
The first lighthouse that Alicante had erected between 1844 and 1846. It was a consequence of the commercial boom reached by this port in the mid-19th century. Following a shipwreck in the area, approval was given in 1842 for the construction of a temporary lighthouse located at the end of one of the harbour spits. A spit of more than 300 meters and a beautiful lamppost were built, which the chronicles say was composed of a hexagonal masonry building on which stood a wooden tower about 30 meters high.
