Itinerary
1
Sky Tower
Here you have a very nice glimpse of the iconic Sky Tower! Built of high-performance reinforced concrete, it has been designed to withstand winds of more than 200 km/h and earthquakes of magnitude 8.
2
Sky Tower
Here you are at the foot of the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere! Sky Tower is well named: from 328 metres high, it dominates the city and promises breathtaking views of its rooftops, but also of Auckland Bay and its surroundings.
3
Auckland District Court
The imposing building on your right is the largest court in Australasia. This is where the major judicial decisions are made.
4
Saint Patrick's Cathedral
In front of you stands the beautiful cathedral of Auckland, St Patrick’s Cathedral. Yes yes, it is well dedicated to Saint Patrick, the patron saint of the Irish!
5
Ferry Building
This building is the Check-out Point for the many ferries that sail through Auckland Bay every day.
6
Britomart
It is a completely different atmosphere that you find here, in what are called the Britomart Pavilions. This pedestrian street is surrounded by small buildings that were designed by Cheshire Architects Group.
7
Auckland house travel
This building, called Excelsior House, was built in 1885. It was intended for the Brown, Barret & Co. group, which included tea, coffee and spice merchants.
8
The Pacifica by Urban Rest
Continuing down Commerce Street, and behind the facade of the white building in front of you stands the imposing The Pacifica Tower. It is the tallest residential skyscraper in the country: it has 57 floors.
9
Vulcan Lane
This little pedestrian lane is the perfect Check-out Point for a Great Shopping Ride. A lively area with original shops, restaurants and bars, it has everything you need to stop for a moment.
10
Albert Park
You enter one of the main parks in downtown Auckland, Albert Park. Here used to be a Maori village, before settlers arrived in the territory.
11
Auckland Art Gallery
This beautiful building, which forms the corner of Albert Park, is the largest art museum in New Zealand.
12
Auckland Town Hall
It is an elegant Edwardian style that characterizes Auckland City Inn, which stands out along Aotea Square. It was inaugurated in 1911 and was, at that time, one of the largest buildings in the city.
13
Aotea Gifts Britomart
You’re in Aotea Square, an esplanade that regularly brings New Zealanders together for fairs, music festivals, concerts, markets or political rallies.
14
Waharoa Lane
Aotea Square, in addition to being surrounded by large cultural buildings, unveils an impressive sculpture. Called Waharoa, it represents a traditional Maori gate made of wood and copper.
15
The Civic
Turn around and admire the facade of this imposing building on Queen Street. This is the Civic Theatre, a large complex that combines both a theatre and a gigantic cinema called “atmospheric”.
16
Queen Street
Queen Street is one of the main arteries in the city centre, and in Auckland in general. It is named after Queen Victoria, who ruled the United Kingdom between 1837 and 1901.
17
Auckland Central
Auckland’s city centre is here called the Central Business District, or CBD more commonly. It is here that the city was founded in 1840, when British settlers arrived.
