Abu Simbel
Around 4 am, your guide will pick you up from Aswan at the place you choose. You will be driven during 3 hours by private air-conditioned car to Abu Simbel, 290 km south of Aswan.
The two temples you are about to visit are located on the west bank of Lake Nasser. They were originally located in a lower area where they buried under the sand and also were doomed to be drowned under the Nile water.
In order to save these Ancient treasures, decision was made to relocate them. Therefore, the temples were entirely relocated in 1968 : dislocated and reassembled in a higher area to save them from flooding.
These massive constructions are a part of Ramesses II building program throughout Egypt and Nubia. Indeed Nubia was a valuable region for Egyptians because of its gold and other precious goods. Hence, Pharaoh Ramesses II decided to build these two massive temples in Nubia in order to establish his supremacy upon the Nubians.
Visit these two masterpieces with your Egyptologist guide and discover the history of this place and of the great Pharaoh who build them. You will have plenty of time to take memorable photos.
