Now it attracts visitors for sightseeing and photography, while at night, the illuminated monument becomes one of the best spots to admire Chongqing’s dazzling skyline. Surrounded by shopping centers, restaurants, and entertainment venues, Jiefangbei is a dynamic hub that captures Chongqing’s urban energy.

The Dazu Rock Carvings
After breakfast, begin your day by visiting the Dazu Rock Carvings, an extraordinary site and the real-life inspiration for the black myth: Wukong. As the largest grotto complex in southern China, the Dazu Rock Carvings date back to the late Tang dynasty (618–907) and early Song dynasty (960–1127). Renowned for its exquisite stone carvings, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a true masterpiece of Buddhist and Taoist art. Among the five cave groups, the Baodingshan Rock Carvings stand out, featuring the famous “Three-Dimensional Picture of the River During the Qingming Festival”, which vividly captures the market life of the Southern Song Dynasty. As you explore the site, you’ll encounter not only intricate carvings but also the atmosphere of ancient local life, blending history and art.
