Trains No. 1005 and 1015 depart at 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM, arriving at Ella Railway Station at 11:25 AM and 4:55 PM. Along the way, the train stops at Pattipola, Ohiya, Idalgashinna, Haputale, Diyatalawa, Bandarawela, and other small stations, offering breathtaking views of Sri Lanka’s highlands—making it one of the most scenic train rides in the world. Booking is recommended at least 30 days in advance.

Train Journey from Ella to Kandy / Nanuoya is considered as one of the most scenic train trips in the world. Reserved seats comes with the pre-printed seat number and customers can board the train and occupy the relevant seat. We generally issue tickets from 2nd class reserved compartments. There is a chance that we may have to issue from other classes (1st class / 3rd class ) as well depending on the demand. If you have any specific class requirement, you can mention it in the booking. Please make sure to mention your passport number and mobile number as they are important. We will not be able to issue tickets unless the passport number is provided.
