Pleasant train ride along two lakes, passing through Zug — once a medieval trading town and today known for hosting international headquarters in commodity trading, finance, and blockchain industries — before continuing to our first point of interest in the canton of Lucerne.

Visit the ChocoDromo visitor center of Aeschbach Chocolatier, a family-run Swiss chocolate manufacturer, where you learn about the journey from cocoa bean to finished chocolate, discover Switzerland’s rich confectionery heritage, and see how premium chocolate is crafted. The visit includes a small voucher redeemable in the café or on-site chocolate boutique, where guests can purchase chocolate and pralines, including over 100 varieties of Swiss handmade chocolates, truffles, and seasonal specialities to take home.

We continue our journey by train via Lucerne to Escholzmatt, followed by a short bus ride to Marbach, a traditional mountain village in the Entlebuch region, part of Switzerland’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, known for its alpine landscapes, peat bogs, and strong rural heritage.

Visit Bergkäserei Marbach, a traditional alpine cheese dairy in the Entlebuch Biosphere, where you learn how regional mountain milk is transformed into high-quality Swiss cheese, watch cheesemakers at work through windows into the production area, and experience the long-standing cheese-making traditions of the region. Located at 871 meters above sea level in the alpine foothills, Marbach is home to this mountain dairy, where milk from locally raised cows and buffaloes is processed by a team of around 30 specialists into premium cheese specialties. The visit also includes an immersive show area and exhibition guiding you through all stages of milk processing, as well as a spacious store and bistro where regional specialties can be tasted and purchased.

We continue by bus and train into the Emmental region, characterized by gently rolling terrain, dispersed farm settlements, and a landscape shaped by centuries of mixed agriculture and rural life.

Visit the Kambly Experience in Trubschachen, Switzerland’s most famous biscuit manufacturer, where you learn about traditional Swiss baking craftsmanship, discover the company’s long family history, and see how iconic butter biscuits and specialty pastries are produced. Daily demonstrations by master confectioners and interactive stations provide insight into baking techniques, while children can enjoy a play corner and themed games. After the tour, browse the spacious factory shop with around 100 varieties of biscuits and gift ideas, relax in the café with coffee or a handmade dessert, and purchase regional specialties to take home.

Travel by train down the Emmental valley, passing through rolling hills, traditional farm landscapes, and characteristic rural villages of the Bern region, before returning via Burgdorf and Olten back to Zurich.
