Huis Zypendaal is a beautiful historic country house in Arnhem, surrounded by a peaceful estate and park. Built between 1762 and 1764 for the influential Brantsen family, it later became the home of Baron Aarnoud van Heemstra, Audrey Hepburn’s grandfather and former mayor of Arnhem. Audrey and her family stayed here when they first moved to Arnhem.

Sonsbeek Park is one of Arnhem’s most beautiful and beloved green spaces. Once a private country estate, it became a public park in 1899. With its woods, lawns, ponds, waterfalls and historic buildings, it feels like a peaceful oasis close to the city centre. Audrey Hepburn spent part of her childhood in Arnhem, with the park forming part of the landscape of her youth.

Musis Sacrum is one of Arnhem’s oldest cultural venues and has played an important role in the city’s musical history. During World War II, the building was used by the German occupying forces. The John Frost Bridge is one of Arnhem’s most iconic landmarks and a powerful reminder of the Battle of Arnhem. In September 1944, British paratroopers under Lieutenant Colonel John Frost fought to hold the bridge during Operation Market Garden. The battle had a devastating impact on Arnhem and its residents, including Audrey Hepburn, whose family had moved to nearby Velp. Today, the bridge is a symbol of the city’s wartime history.
