This tour emphasizes two of the Douro Valley wine-producing villages for visitors to this UNESCO World Heritage region: Favaios and Provesende. We will visit them! Among the Douro wine villages, you’ll find the remains of Romanesque churches, 17th century palaces; traditions and handicrafts and well-established wine estates (quintas). Plus some incredible scenery. Favaios is known for its fortified moscatel wine, which is lighter and often more refreshing than port wine and it's also known due to their traditional bakeries. From this amazing viewpoint you can see wave after wave of mountains beyond the wide expanse of the Douro River where you may spot a cruise ship gliding towards the quayside at Pinhão. The slope between the river and where you stand is decorated with geometrical vineyards, rows of olive trees, vegetable plots and houses.
