Located near the Central Park area, Umbrella Street is a vibrant pedestrian street covered with dozens of brightly colored umbrellas suspended overhead, creating a beautiful canopy of shade and color.

Built in 1577, this historic Spanish fortress was constructed to protect the city from pirates and invaders who once roamed the Caribbean. It is the oldest colonial military structure still standing in Puerto Plata.
