Our tour concludes at Castle Clinton. Before the expansion of Manhattan, this fort sat in the harbor guarding the tip of the island against invaders coming into the harbor. Before the opening of Ellis Island, it became the main processing point for immigrants entering the United States through New York and an estimated 10 million people gained entry here.
