One of the series of defensive watch towers built during the reign of Carlos III in the 18th-Century, at a time that the whole this part of the Spanish coast lived under the threat of invasion from the sea.

Playa de los Muertos is one of the most iconic beaches in the area, and in Spain. With its crystal-clear waters and striking rock formations, it is a paradise for beach lovers. There is a 10-15 minute walk down to the beach (and back up again!) for which comfortable footwear is recommended.

We visit the Mesa de Roldán and admire the truly amazing views and the calm silence of this unique place. We view the fossilized reef, the 19th-Century lighthouse and the 18th-Century tower that featured in an episode of Game of Thrones.

We explore the centre and some of the monuments of Carboneras, a pretty fishing village with an interesting past and a cinematographic claim to fame. This is also where we stop for a delicious lunch at a typical local restaurant (not included in the tour fee). After lunch we make one last stop at a secret location on the return journey to your accommodation.

The coast is dotted with watch towers from different eras of history, and this tower dates back to Moorish times.
