Nothing destined Matisse to paint. Yet his boldness has tipped many conventions. Given the apparent simplicity of portraits, silhouettes, or the confusing radicality of his paintings, how can we better understand the upheavals he has caused? The works of the end of his life, a period of intense renewal, show the balances he has achieved, in the confrontation between line and color, or in the dialogue between empty and full, for example. During this guided tour, we will observe together what emerges from the works and I will bring elements on the approach.
