San Telmo Park is a small square that you cannot miss when visiting Las Palmas. Located in the Triana district, it reveals beautiful palm trees that make it an ideal setting to relax, read a book or play with your children.

As we reach the historic center of the city, I offer you a short presentation of the island you are on and the Canary Islands in general.

Here you are in the main street of the Triana district and in one of the city’s shopping streets. It is a very nice street, characterized by beautiful bourgeois houses where once lived rich Andalusian, English, Danish or Maltese merchants.

The Triana district is one of the most interesting in the city. It is one of the most beautiful and oldest: it was built at the same time as that of Vegueta in the 15th century by the governor of the Catholic Monarchs Juan Rejon.

The building in front of you is the Monastery of Saint Francis of Assisi. The building was built in 1518 by a Sevillian named Pedro Llerena and by that time it was already a convent dedicated to the founder of the Franciscans.

Here you are in front of a monument called the Literary Cabinet, or gabinete literario here in the Canaries. Its neoclassical and modernist architecture makes it one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, which stands out elegantly in Cairasco Square.

The beautiful square on which the Literary Cabinet is located marks the boundary between the two historic districts of Las Palmas, Triana and Vegueta.

Small break on the pretty Hurtado de Mendoza square! Located between the districts of Triana and Vegueta, it unveils a beautiful statue in its center that gave it its name, because it is a monument that pays tribute to Hurtado de Mendoza, former mayor of Las Palmas in 1903 who left his mark on the city by managing to establish a solid administration in the municipality.

You are currently in front of the most imposing monument in the city, the Cathedral of Santa Ana. She looks pretty good, doesn’t she?

Perhaps you have already noticed them – or not, if you were too captivated by the cathedral, which I can understand – but you have, right in front of the majestic monument, sculptures of dogs here and there, sometimes sitting, sometimes lying down.

In this typical street of the city of Las Palmas, you pass along the Canary Museum, one of the most interesting museums on the island. Here, 11 rooms are deployed to tell you the history of this archipelago so beloved by tourists today.

Vegueta is, together with Triana, the oldest district of Las Palmas. Even more historic than its neighbour, it reveals many monuments that come straight from the 15th century, when the Catholic Monarchs conquered and settled in the Canary capital.

Here you are in front of a theater that must not be missed in Las Palmas. Called the Pérez Galdos Theatre, it has been considered one of the most modern theatres in Spain since its renovation in 2007.
