Meet your guide on the steps of the Old Synagogue. They will hold a Kazimierz Guided Tour sign.
Begin in Kazimierz, one of Kraków’s most atmospheric neighborhoods and a former center of Jewish religious and social life. As you walk its narrow streets, you’ll encounter synagogues, courtyards, and buildings that reflect centuries of coexistence between Jewish and Christian communities.
The tour starts on Szeroka Street, the historic heart of the district, surrounded by synagogues and townhouses from the 16th to 18th centuries. You’ll see the Old Synagogue, the oldest preserved synagogue in Poland, now a museum of Jewish history. Pass by the Remuh Synagogue and Cemetery, one of the country’s most important Jewish religious sites, as well as the Kupa Synagogue and the Tempel Synagogue, today an active cultural venue. The walk concludes at Plac Nowy, a lively square known for cafés, markets, and contemporary local life.
Throughout this part of the tour, your guide provides insight into religious traditions, community life, and the resilience that shaped Kazimierz over generations.

Emaillefabrik von Oskar Schindler
Continue to Schindler’s Enamel Factory, now one of Kraków’s most powerful and widely visited museums. With your licensed guide, explore the permanent exhibition “Kraków under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945”, presented through the life and actions of Oskar Schindler.
This was the workplace where Schindler employed Jewish laborers and used his influence, resources, and personal risk to protect them from deportation. More than one thousand people survived as a result of his actions. As you move through the exhibition, personal testimonies of the so-called Schindlerjuden bring individual stories of survival into focus.
Historical photographs, everyday objects, and reconstructed city streets illustrate the fear and hardship of life under occupation, while Schindler’s story stands out as a rare example of moral courage and humanity.

Former Jewish Ghetto – Podgórze -
The final section of the tour leads through the area of the former Kraków Jewish Ghetto. You’ll see preserved fragments of the ghetto walls, tangible reminders of the physical boundaries that once isolated the Jewish population.
Continue to Ghetto Heroes Square, once the central gathering point of the ghetto and a site connected with deportations. Today, it serves as a memorial space, marked by rows of empty metal chairs symbolizing the lives lost.
Across the square stands the Under the Eagle Pharmacy, where pharmacist Tadeusz Pankiewicz and his staff provided aid to ghetto residents. Through your guide’s narration, stories of courage, compassion, and ethical choice emerge, offering a deeper understanding of this difficult chapter in Kraków’s history.
