Slovakia's largest church and one of the easternmost Gothic cathedrals in Europe, begun in the late 14th century. Pause outside to take in the west front, the carved portals and the patterned roof tiles while the audio story plays.

A Baroque column raised on Hlavna in the early 18th century in thanks for the end of a plague epidemic, crowned by a figure of the Immaculata. Look for the saints carved around its base as you pass.

Known as Crafts Lane, this narrow street runs along the line of the medieval town walls and is lined with restored workshops where artisans still work. Walk its length and look into the courtyards as you go.

The Executioner's Bastion and the adjoining Miklus Prison form one complex on Hrnciarska, built into the medieval defences of the old town. Pass by the round gun tower and the old prison houses beside it.

A neo-Gothic palace built at the end of the 19th century near the Hornad river by the architect Peter Jakab as his own family home, using stone left over from the cathedral restoration. The final stop on the route.
