This walk begins where the sultans themselves once entered — inside Topkapı Palace's outer courtyard, at the Imperial Gate — and moves through the old city not as a list of monuments, but as the story of the objects that outlasted every ruler who touched them: a column quarried in Egypt and re-erected by Rome, a church the Ottomans never converted, a stone that once marked the center of the known world.
