Die Hoodoos
The Drumheller Hoodoos are one of the most iconic and otherworldly sights in Alberta’s Badlands—towering rock formations that look like something from another planet.
You will be greeted by clusters of tall, thin rock spires topped with flat stones (called “capstones”).
These formations can reach up to 5–7 meters (15–23 feet) tall
Their layered colors—brown, tan, and reddish tones—show millions of years of Earth’s history
The surrounding landscape is dry, rugged, and almost desert-like
They were formed by erosion, where wind and rain slowly wore away softer rock, leaving these dramatic pillars behind.
