We visit the places, see the artifacts and hear the stories over an informative highly enjoyable tour. We enjoy a relaxed seafood lunch before returning to our accommodation via the spectacular scenic route for the afternoon siesta!

We step back into time to 600BC with this visit to a Phoenician necropolis and view inside the ancient burial chambers.

This extremely well-preserved Renaissance castle is home to an impressive art collection and a bijou museum of the archaeology of the local area. We also get an insight into the role of the castle in the time of Christian and Moorish Spain.

Many of the inhabitants of Cuevas lived in caves - some still do - and we drive through this awe-inspiring neighbourhood that has been home to cave-dwellers for centuries.

The 18th-Century castle was built on the site of a previous Moorish castle on the top of a commanding rock that oversees the Mediterranean. From this point we get an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding sierras and up and down the stunning Murcia and Almería coast.

This spectacular cove was once the centre of operations for the "cocedores", or esparto grass workers, and is now the strikingly-located beach restaurants for miles around. We stop here for lunch (fresh fish and seafood is the speciality) before returning, via the scenic route, to your hotel.
