Step back in time at the Zelve Open Air Museum one of the oldest cave settlements in Cappadocia. Once home to Christians and Muslims coexisting peacefully this abandoned village is now an open air museum featuring rock cut dwellings chapels tunnels and religious sites. Walking through this ghost town offers a hauntingly beautiful experience of history etched into stone.

This is one of the best spots in Cappadocia to witness the region’s iconic fairy chimneys tall mushroom shaped rock formations that look almost otherworldly.
