Built in the 1970s in a modernist style, the theatre was altered during the communist era and later restored to its original design, now featuring ultra-modern performance halls.

The name is linked to the University of Bucharest building, which flanks one side of the square. It houses 19 faculties, for example Geography, Mathematics, History... It is the second oldest university in the country.

The Odeon Theater is one of the oldest theaters in Bucharest, occupying a top place in the ranking of institutions of this kind. Famous Romanian actors play on the stage of this theater.

The former comunist dictator, Nicolae Ceaușescu gave his final public speech here, from the balcony of the former Central Committee building.

It was originally the royal palace, under King Carol I. It currently houses numerous art galleries, the main ones being Romanian and European art. A number of Brancusi's works can be found here.

King Carol I expressed a wish to establish an institution “for the benefit of university youth''. This was the initiative that led to the creation of this building. Students, faculty, and researchers have access, there is also possibility for external users (with permit).

It house the George Enescu Philharmonic and is a major venue for Romania’s foremost international music festival, the George Enescu Festival.

This statuary group is designed based on characters of the works of Ion Luca Caragiale, the main Romanian dramaturg.
