Paro
The flight into Paro crosses the Himalayan range, offering spectacular views of towering peaks such as the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. If you are arriving via Kathmandu—the route known for its breathtaking panorama—you may even catch glimpses of Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga. Upon landing, our representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel.
In the afternoon, you will explore Paro Dzong, built in 1646 and still home to government offices and religious institutions, as is the case with all Bhutanese dzongs. On the way, you will cross a charming traditional wooden bridge.
Afterwards, the National Museum awaits; once the dzong’s watchtower, it now displays an impressive collection of fine arts, paintings, thankas, statues, and antiques. Your next stop will be Kyichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in Bhutan. As evening approaches, you may enjoy a leisurely stroll through Paro town and its local market. Overnight in Paro.
