Authentic little street in the historic center of Aubagne, Rue Laget reveals houses with colorful walls and shutters.

It is the fountain of Leo that stands before you, on this little square that bears the same name. Made of Tavel stone, the fountain depicts a sitting lion, which holds under its paw the coat of arms of the city.

Here you are in front of the birthplace of one of the greatest French writers, playwrights, filmmakers and producers of his time, namely the talented Marcel Pagnol.

The Cours Foch is the most important square in Aubagne. At its centre, the Charles de Gaulle esplanade reveals a space very frequented by Aubagnais, but also visitors who willingly settle on the terraces to have a drink or taste local specialities.

The Cour Voltaire, a rather empty space at first glance, is the ideal playground for merchants who come to sell their products to customers.

The Gachiou gate is one of the most important remains of the city: it comes straight from the 14th century! Imagine that at that time it was both a gateway to the city, but also a guard tower, intended to monitor enemy attacks.

A landmark in Aubagne, the Clock Tower stands out on the square of the same name and reveals its beautiful red stones and bell, visible throughout the city.

This pretty façade belongs to Saint-Sauveur church: it is the oldest building in Aubagne. It therefore has a rich history, since the first church here is said to date from the 11th century.

The Thérèse Neveu Cité de l’art santonnier is a newly renovated building that is part of the city’s identity. It was here that Thérèse Neveu, Aubagne’s most famous santonniere, once lived.

This chapel is characterized by a well-recognized baroque style. Built in 1722, it belonged to the Brotherhood of White Penitents.

Place Joseph Rau, which is on your right, is a very typical square in downtown Aubagne. If it is rather quiet in winter, it adorns a large terrace during the summer period, deployed in the heart of its charming houses with colorful shutters.

Here you are in front of the House of santon and ceramics, real institution in Aubagne. It should be noted that the city has a rich history in the earth arts, and that ceramics is part of its identity.

You have here, on one side, the town hall of Aubagne, and in front of it, a flamboyantly red building that used to be the hospice of the city.

In the Rue du Torte, in which you are, is a surprising object entirely made of stone: a bread oven dating from the 18th century!

This picturesque little square is called Guin Square.

The Brotherhood of Black Penitents was the first to be formed in Aubagne in 1551. The men and women who were part of it were granted the right to meet that year in St. Michael's Chapel, a chapel that was no longer used for worship.

The Brotherhood of Grey Penitents was the last to be established in 1672. It is their chapel that you have before you and as you can see, it has a much more sober style than those of the White and Black Penitents.
