This beautiful, neo-Byzantine church is the Church of the Sacred Heart, located in the center of the Aliens district.

This huge yellow building, which you're now walking along, is Fesch High School. In 1805, an imperial decree ceded this former Jesuit house to the city, which then converted it into a college.

You are on the immense General de Gaulle square, delimiting the old town of the new districts of Ajaccio. The one that was called Place d’Arms at the time when the military used it for training is now commonly called Place Diamant.

This beautiful yellow neoclassical building that you see in the middle of its tropical garden is the headquarters of the Prefecture of Corsica. Its construction was authorized by royal decree in 1822 and completed in 1830.

You are on the Cours Napoleon, the main artery of the city center. Designed by Napoleon I, this street was at the heart of his great project to beautify his hometown.

Let's talk about Cardinal Fesch here. You walked up his street and arrived in front of his statue, the museum named after him and the imperial chapel that he is owed. But who is this Cardinal?

Commonly known as the Place des Palmes, Marshal Foch’s Place was created at the beginning of the 19th century as the Check-out from the suburbs that led to the Old Town of Genoa. Overlooking the square, with his gaze fixed on the sea, stands the statue of Napoleon, guarded by a fountain with four lions lying down.

You certainly see a few people in this narrow street, it is normal, you arrive in front of Napoleon Bonaparte’s house. On August 15, 1769, the future French Emperor was born here.

Here you are at the old port of Ajaccio, the port Tino Rossi! Yes, the city did not see the birth only of Napoleon! It is an ideal place to taste the charms of Corsica.

The pier of the citadel, puts you nose to nose with the horizon. It is the ideal place to immortalize the old port. Located in the Gulf of Ajaccio, the port comprises 3 basins, separated by a cruising mole.

Do not trust its small size, this pretty baroque cathedral, with its ochre façade and its grey blue dome is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

You now pass the small church of Saint-Erasme. This former Jesuit chapel was dedicated to the patron saint of sailors when it resumed worship after the Revolution.

You now have a good view of the silhouette of the citadel of Ajaccio that stands out on the sea. Know that since 2021, the citadel, for the first time in 5 centuries, is open to the public!

Nothing like a bay to have a beautiful view of a beach. You have before you the beach Saint-François, bordered by its promenade of palm trees.

You pass the Casino d’Ajaccio peacefully installed facing the bay. It deserves a moment’s attention, if only because it is the only casino in Corsica!

Arrival on Place Austerlitz immediately sets the mood. Here we are to pay tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte.

The beautiful extravagant facade that you admire at the corner, is that of the Cyrnos palace. In 1870, a wealthy Scot, Miss Campbell, travels to the Mediterranean islands and falls under the spell of Ajaccio.
