Schloss Corgarff
The combination of medieval residence and later military adaptation gives Corgarff Castle a layered history.
The original tower-house was built in the mid-16th century, likely around 1530–1550, by the Clan Elphinstone or in their name and later leased to the Clan Forbes of Towie.
** We will see the castle externally - it is a closer photo opportunity and an introduction to the castle - no entrance to the castle**

Braemar Castle
The current castle was built in 1628 by John Erskine, Earl of Mar, as a hunting lodge.
Over time, Braemar Castle has had various roles: hunting lodge, fortress, Jacobite base, and even a garrison.
In 1831, the military left, and the castle returned to the Farquharson clan.
It’s one of the first castles in Scotland to be run by a local community trust.
The ticket to visit the castle must be separately purchased online or at the castle - £16.00 per person.
