Freedom Park is a place of inclusivity, tolerance of diversity, trust and transparency. The museum aims to narrate the story of the African continent - from the dawn of humanity, through pre-colonial, colonial and apartheid history to the South Africa of today. It is a centre of knowledge aimed at deepening the understanding of the nation.

The Union Buildings located in South Africa’s capital city Pretoria, is the official seat of the national government and the site where Nelson Mandela was inaugurated the first democratically elected president in 1994. There is a nine-metre-tall statue of him with his arms outstretched to symbolise his embrace of the whole nation.
