Travelers journey from the coast into the heart of the Namib Desert, passing through the striking Moon Landscape Valley and stopping to observe the ancient Welwitschia plants, some of the oldest living plants on Earth.
At Goanikontes Oasis, guests enjoy a relaxed stop in this historic desert settlement, surrounded by rugged desert scenery and palm trees. A light lunch is served, and there is time to use the restroom facilities, stretch legs, and browse small local curios if available.
Our accredited guide shares insights into the area’s geology, desert survival, and the history of Goanikontes as a former rest stop for early travelers crossing the Namib.
