Mohamed V Square (or Place Mohammed V) in Casablanca, Morocco, is the main public square and administrative heart of the city. Built in 1916 during the French protectorate by architects Henri Prost and Joseph Marrast, it combines Art Deco, neo-Moorish and Spanish-Muslim influences.

Bab Marrakech (بابمراكش) is the main and most iconic gate of the Old Medina of Casablanca, built in 1774 by the Alawite Sultan Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah when rebuilding the city after the Lisbon earthquake of 1755.

The Old Medina of Casablanca (المدينة القديمة) is the only pre-colonial neighborhood that survived the French destruction of 1907. Founded in the 18th century by Sultan Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah, it is much more authentic and less touristic than the medinas of Marrakech or Fez.

Ould el-Hamra Mosque (مسجد ولد الحمراء) – also spelled Ould el Hadra for phonetic variation – is the OLDEST mosque in Casablanca (18th century!) and the hidden treasure of the medina that all locals love and tourists ignore.

An 18th century military stronghold (built in 1785 by Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah) converted in 2001 into the most beautiful restaurant-cafe in Morocco.

Bab El Marsa (باب المرسى) – also called Porte de la Marine or Port Gate – is the most epic and authentic historic gate of the Old Medina of Casablanca. The only one that retains its ORIGINAL 18th century look!
