What distinguishes this experience is the opportunity to live the Day of the Dead from within a community of the Etla Valley, where the Deaths are part of the identity and tradition of its inhabitants.
Accompanied by a guide, you will not only observe masks, music and characters walking through the streets, but you will know the meaning of the mortarians, the devils, spiritualists and the traditional representations that are part of the celebration.
Being a real community holiday and not a show created for tourists, each Death takes place differently, making the characters, music, encounters and tour turn each night into a unique experience.

Discover one of the most fascinating traditions of the Day of the Dead in Oaxaca and experience a real Death in the Valley of Etla.
Travel from Oaxaca City accompanied by a guide and enter a community celebration filled with band music, masks, dancing, satire and traditional characters. Learn about the meaning of the Mortarians and discover characters such as devils, spiritualists, the old, the dead and other figures who are part of this tradition passed down through generations.
When arriving in Etla, respectfully integrate into the atmosphere of the community and accompany part of the route of the Death through its streets. Watch their elaborate garb, listen to traditional bands and discover how humor, music and popular representation come together to celebrate the relationship between life and death.
Rather than observe a parade, this experience seeks to bring you closer to a living tradition and one of the most unique expressions of the Oaxacan Day of the Dead.
