Lake Gregory (also called Gregory Reservoir) is a manmade lake built in 1873 under British Governor Sir William Gregory originally for damming the Nanu Oya stream to help with flood control.
Over time it has become a major recreational & scenic spot in Nuwara Eliya surrounded by hills, tea plantations and colonial era architecture.
