This is the only tour in Split where the ancient palace actually comes back to life around you. A licensed local guide walks you through Diocletian's Palace and the old town across 80 minutes, telling the story of 1,700 years of history on the very stones where it happened. At two points along the walk you put on a Meta Quest 3 headset for two cinematic VR scenes, around 6 minutes in total, and the ruins rebuild themselves in real time. Roman soldiers appear in front of you, Emperor Diocletian steps forward to address the crowd, and the sounds of the Roman era surround you. Headsets off, you keep walking the living city with your guide. One 80-minute guided walk, two unforgettable VR scenes,...

تمثال جرجور نينسكي
Your meeting point and the start of the story. Your guide welcomes the group at the statue of Gregory of Nin, a 10th century bishop who fought to hold church services in the Croatian language instead of Latin. Local tradition says rubbing his golden toe brings good luck, so give it a rub before you set off. From here you step straight into 1,700 years of history.

البوابة الذهبية
Your guide begins with Emperor Diocletian himself, a commoner from nearby Salona who rose to become the most powerful man in the Roman Empire, then did something no emperor had done before: he voluntarily gave up the throne to retire here. After the buildup, your guide fits each guest with a Meta Quest 3 headset and the ruins dissolve around you. The Golden Gate rises as it stood in 305 AD, towering marble walls, red Egyptian granite columns, massive wooden doors bound in iron. Roman soldiers in full armor stand guard as Diocletian arrives at his newly finished palace. You are not watching a screen. You are standing inside the moment in full 360 degrees, while the real ancient stones stay visible beneath your feet through mixed reality. You stay in one spot and explore using a handheld controller. Headsets off, questions answered, and your guide leads you on foot into the palace.

كاتدرائية القديس دومنيوس
You are looking at one of the oldest Catholic cathedrals still in use in its original structure. It was built as Diocletian's personal mausoleum, which makes for one of history's strangest twists: a man who violently persecuted Christians now rests inside a church dedicated to Saint Domnius, one of his own victims. Look up at the Roman columns and the Egyptian sphinx flanking the entrance, original pieces of the imperial tomb that survived seventeen centuries of the building turning from emperor's grave into place of worship.

الرواق الممتد في قصر دقلديانوس
Welcome to the Peristyle, the ceremonial heart of the palace, where for centuries the Emperor addressed his people. Take in the columns and arches that have stood here for 1,700 years. Then headsets go on for the second VR scene and the square transforms into its full Roman glory. Marble columns rise to their original height. The Protiron entrance stands complete with its triangular pediment and Egyptian sphinxes. Citizens in Roman dress fill the courtyard. Empress Prisca watches from the colonnade. Diocletian himself steps forward to address his people as the crowd chants AVE DIOCLETIANE around you. You stand in one place and navigate with the controller while the real Peristyle stays visible beneath your feet. This is the scene guests talk about long after the tour ends. Headsets come off and there is time for questions before you continue.

هياكل قصر دقلديانوس
Pass through the palace substructures, the atmospheric stone corridors beneath the old town and one of the best preserved Roman interiors anywhere. These passages run directly below where the imperial apartments once stood, giving you a real sense of the scale of Diocletian's palace. Your guide explains how the city above was destroyed and rebuilt over seventeen centuries while these chambers survived almost intact, buried until their rediscovery in the 20th century. If you want to step inside the large paid hall, your guide will point you to it so you can return on your own.

ميناء ريفا
The tour ends on Split's iconic Riva waterfront. Here your guide ties the whole story together, from the Golden Gate to the Peristyle to the chambers below, and you take in the palm lined promenade, the Adriatic, and Marjan hill in the distance. Before saying goodbye, your guide shares personal recommendations for restaurants, beaches, and the spots most visitors never find.
