Utah’s Route 12 is a stunning scenic drive across massive plateaus of multicolor stone. This vast “staircase” connects two National Parks, Bryce and Capitol Reef, and passes over the unmissable Hogback Ridgeline.
Grand Staircase is also home to a petrified forest, the pink sandstone of Red Canyon Arches, and sweeping vistas of Escalante National Monument. An optional detour even leads down into Spooky Gulch, a deep-cut slot canyon.
Driving along Grand Staircase is the best way to connect your roadtrip of Utah’s National Parks.
