We begin the experience at Jardín San Pablo, a peaceful garden in the heart of Oaxaca’s historic center. Here we introduce the history of the city and Oaxaca’s incredible culinary traditions before starting our walking food adventure.

As we begin our walk, we pass by the beautiful Centro Cultural San Pablo, a restored historic complex that blends colonial architecture with modern cultural life.

Our first tasting introduces one of Oaxaca’s most iconic dishes: enmoladas. These soft tortillas are filled and covered with Oaxaca’s famous rich and complex mole sauce, a true symbol of local cuisine.

We continue to the vibrant Mercado Benito Juárez, one of the most famous markets in Oaxaca. Here guests will taste several traditional ingredients including: Quesillo (Oaxaca’s famous string cheese) Tejate, a refreshing pre-Hispanic cacao and corn drink Chapulines (toasted grasshoppers), a traditional Oaxacan snack Trying chapulines is completely optional. Guests who are curious are warmly invited to taste them, but there is absolutely no pressure if you prefer not to.

Next we enjoy one of Mexico’s most beloved street foods: tacos al pastor, freshly prepared with marinated pork and traditional toppings.

We walk through the Zócalo, the heart of Oaxaca’s historic center, where the Cathedral stands. This lively square is the social center of the city and a perfect place to understand everyday life in Oaxaca.

Next we taste the iconic tlayuda. This large toasted tortilla is topped with beans, cheese, and other traditional ingredients, creating one of the most famous dishes in the region.

No visit to Oaxaca is complete without its famous chocolate. We stop to enjoy traditional hot chocolate.

We continue walking along the lively Andador Turístico, Oaxaca’s main pedestrian street. During this scenic walk of about 6 blocks, guests will see historic buildings, local shops, street musicians, and the vibrant atmosphere that makes Oaxaca so special.

We finish the experience near the stunning Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, where guests enjoy a traditional mezcal tasting while learning about the history and culture behind Oaxaca’s most famous spirit. From here guests can continue exploring the beautiful Santo Domingo area, full of lively plazas, restaurants, and mezcal bars.
