Originally built under the Northern Qi Dynasty (550‑577 AD), this stretch of the Great Wall was reinforced in the early Ming Dynasty over 600 years ago to fend off Mongol incursions. Restored in 1988, it runs 2.7 kilometers long with 20 watchtowers.
• Pick‑up anywhere within downtown Beijing, with a scenic 1.5‑hour drive to the Great Wall.
• Ascent: Shuttle bus to the mountain base, then a 5‑minute cable‑car ride onto the Wall.
