Our first stop is Gouverneto Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Crete. As this is an active monastery, modest clothing is required. Shoulders and knees must be covered. From Gouverneto, begin a guided hike through the impressive Katholiko Gorge, visiting: Bear Cave (Arkoudospilio) Katholiko Monastery The Cave of Saint John the Hermit Avlaki Gorge At the end of the trail, you'll reach the secluded beach at Avlaki, where you can relax and enjoy an optional swim in the crystal-clear waters.
