Ancient Smyrna: The Suffering Church - We will meet you at Izmir Airport or at your hotel at Kusadasi, Izmir, or Selcuk. We start our pilgrimage at the heart of Smyrna (Rev. 2:8-11), the 'Suffering Church.' While walking through the Roman Agora, our guide will recount the powerful story of St. Polycarp, the Bishop of Smyrna and a disciple of St. John, who was martyred in this city for refusing to renounce Christ. Although the modern Polycarp Church is currently under restoration, standing in this ancient civic center brings to life the reality of Roman persecution and the promise of the 'Crown of Life' mentioned in Revelation. Please note: St. Polycarp Church is currently closed for long-term restoration. We will cover his inspiring life and martyrdom in depth during our visit to the Agora, the actual site of Roman judgment.

Pergamon Acropolis: Where Satan Has His Throne - We ascend to the Acropolis of Pergamum (Rev. 2:12-17). St. John described this city as the place 'where Satan has his throne.' Our guide will explain this reference while showing you the Temple of Trajan and the Altar of Zeus foundation, symbolizing the intense pressure early Christians faced from the Imperial Cult. You will also see the steepest theater of the ancient world and discuss the biblical promises of the 'Hidden Manna' and the 'White Stone.

The Asklepion: Ancient Healing Center - Visit the world's first major psychiatric hospital, dedicated to Asclepius, the serpent god of healing. Here, we contrast the pagan methods of healing (incubation, sacred water, mud baths) with the miracles of the Early Church. It’s a fascinating look at the spiritual atmosphere that surrounded the Christians of Pergamum.

Red Basilica (St. John's Church) - A massive structure originally built for Egyptian gods (Serapis), later converted into the Basilica of St. John, one of the actual Seven Churches of Revelation. Seeing this colossal temple turned into a House of God is a powerful symbol of Christianity's triumph over paganism in Asia Minor.
