How to get to Denali National Park? There’s no finer way to arrive than aboard Alaska Railroad’s flagship train, the Denali Star. Passengers especially appreciate the panoramic views, as on a clear day the route offers incredible views of the train’s namesake peak: Denali, the tallest mountain in North America. We recommend that passengers made advance reservations for accommodations at the Park, as it is not possible to get to and from Denali from Anchorage by rail in the same day. A return rail journey from Denali to Anchorage may be booked separately for a subsequent day.

We take you to our own personal salmon catching areas. All along the drive to our fishing destination, you may have the opportunity to see Alaskan wildlife. Bear, moose, foxes, coyote, lynx, owls and eagles. Beautiful mountains and rivers. And on one of our destinations you will fish across from the Knik Glacier.When we take you out it is more of a family friendly experience. We travel in a 4x4 Mercedes sprinter van and there will be a bbq on board for fresh grilled salmon. You are welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks but we always carry water on board.

A picturesque drive along the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet will offer you breathtaking views while en route to one of the best attractions in southcentral Alaska - the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center! The Matanuska Glacier is the largest and most magnificent glacier in Alaska with road access. We will drive you to within about 1/2 mile of the face of the glacier, where we'll start our hike. We'll be hiking on the glacier for two to two and a half hours, and walk about 2 to 3 miles. There is little elevation change, and the hike difficulty is rated as moderate. The glacier is about a two-hour drive from Anchorage. We will stop about half way there for a restroom break, where you will also have the opportunity to purchase coffee and whatever you'd like to have to eat while we're out. Bottled water is provided.

On a clear day we'll see as many as four mountain ranges in Southcentral Alaska, We'll spend our time on a small frozen lake in the Anchorage area. Using the latest electric ice auger, guests can help drill through anywhere between 6 inches to 3 feet thick ice. At times we'll see fish swimming below, either while looking through an 8-inch hole in the ice, or using technology to watch fish move below on sonar images on a depth finder. At times we may fish with jigs or spoons, at other times, hooks, bait and a bobber. We'll often see moose in the woods around town or at the edge of the lake. Bald eagles often watch from the trees nearby, looking for a free meal.
